Ever fancy the Wildbare 'health on a plate' food without the hassle of making it? If your near The Juicehouse in Earlsdon, Coventry, UK you'll soon be able to get a plate of delicious salad and quiche followed by an amazing cake and superfood coffee or fresh juice. We are excited to announce we will be supplying The Juicehouse with a range of cakes, quiches, raw chocolate and other healthy foods from the 15th October 2016. We've developed many of the recipes especially for them using our nutrition packed ingredients, all our recipes will be vegetarian and dairy, gluten, grain and refined sugar free.
I loved going to The Juicehouse and being able to order coconut latte's and fresh juices before and now it's reopening with new owners Nina and Dan and having a bit of a revamp. Earlsdon is a hive of cafes and restaurants, but I've found that many don't cater for allergies very well. This has meant travelling to Leamington Spa if I want to be able to eat out, which is a bit of a trek. So my mum and I end up popping over to each other's houses with our latest baking creation and a damn fine coffee! I'll now have an amazing cafe on my doorstep that stock gluten, grain and dairy free cakes and quiches......I think I may have died and gone to heaven!
As always, nutrition is just as important as taste when I developed these recipes. I've ensured that no cheap filler ingredients are used and every ingredient has been carefully chosen to maximise fibre levels. Fibre is key to feeding our beneficial gut microbiome which is now being proven to have a huge influence in a healthy immune system, good mental health, weight loss and maintainance among many other wide ranging benefits. To this end I have used a range of nut flours, grated and puréed vegetables and fruit and root flours. We use a variety of natural sweeteners such as honey, maple syrup, coconut palm sugar and molasses sugar. So you'll get a wealth of minerals as well as your cake fix! We've ensured its safe for those with issues to dairy by using coconut oil which has amazing health properties. Coconut oil is a rich source of MCTs (Medium Chain Tryglicerides) these are metabolised in different way to other saturated fats. They get quickly metabolised by the liver and turned into ketone bodies which have numerous benefits for our health in addition to being our brains preferred energy source and a much more efficient way of making ATP (our cellular energy source.)
Our quiches are grain free and we don't use xantham gum or guar gum to bind our ingredients like many gluten free foods do. These can irritate the digestive system and can be problematic for people who already have digestive issues. We use pure slippery elm bark powder which is very soothing and healing for the digestive system.
Some of the cakes we've created are a deliciously moist Banana and Walnut loaf. Chocolate and Spinach sponge with devilishly chocolatey avocado 'icing', Courgette, Cardamon and Pistachio loaf (it's a cake, I promise!) Orange and Almond cake, the famous Beetlejuice Cake, Raw'ish Marmelade Brownie (I'm currently addicted to this. Chocolate heaven) Spiced Apple cake (that one I developed for my Grandad's birthday, but I'll let you try it 😉) and Squashed Carrot Muffin.
Quiches-wise we've got Asparagus and Mushroom, Artichoke and Tomato, Caramelised onion, Spinach and Olive and Butternut and Balsamic Onion. My mum and I are continually coming up with new recipes so keep popping into The Juicehouse to see what's in. We're also creating some seasonal cakes to go with your coffee......watch this space. In addition they'll be loads of gorgeous salads, chia pudding and other delights.
